When I started my re-brand of Jasmine’s Jewellery in February 2024, I wanted to have a unique element to my brand, so I decided to feature an ‘up-cycled jewellery’ collection.
For these jewellery pieces, I sourced second hand jewellery from charity shops and Vinted in hopes to make the jewellery into something new and stylish. This process was so fun and exciting, as after I deconstructed the jewellery, I was left with a variety of unique beads and endless possibilities when it came to re-designing jewellery with them.
I started by making a selection of bracelets, as when I first started sourcing second-hand beads, I didn’t have enough to make necklaces:

I use brand new stainless steel wire and fastenings, to ensure the best quality.
After my collection of second-hand beads grew, I decided to make some necklaces in a similar style:

I love these jewellery pieces, because each one is so unique and they all feature beads from different original jewellery. The necklaces also feature second-hand hand-made glass pendants, which I sourced from a seller on Vinted and I’m so lucky to be able to up-cycle them into something beautiful.
In September 2024, I found a very long necklace at my Nanna’s care home that was for sale to raise money for charity. I fell in love with the beads so decided to buy it to see what I could make. The necklace ended up having enough beads for me to make 2 necklace and bracelets sets, and 2 other bracelets and necklaces:
I also found some unique glass beads there, which I made a necklace from:

I was surprised by how many pieces I could make from that one string of beads, but I think each piece is unique and I added different design elements to each one to make it a bit different from the last.
In the future I hope to make more up-cycled jewellery, as I love having a sustainable element to my brand and giving beads a new life.
